With a cream blush, you can create a natural flush or go for a sunburnt-blush look and all depends on your mood! All these recent TikTok trends have made cream blushes highly versatile in comparison to traditional powder blushes. Which don’t get me wrong, inclusivity was much needed to be expanded on with some brands.
But before I list my favourite products, let’s go trough some of the basics..
What is a cream blush?
Cream blush is a type of blush typically made of a blend of waxes and oils that give it a creamy or buttery consistency. It is applied directly to the cheeks using your fingertips, a brush, or a sponge and is designed to give you a natural, dewy finish or build it up to bring the up the blush fantasy up a notch.
It is a great choice for those with dry or sensitive skin since it hydrates and nourishes the skin while adding colour. Cream blush also typically has more pigmentation than powder blush, and are yet so much more forgiving!
Things to consider before purchasing.
- The Finish – Apart from colour, the most important thing to consider is the finish of your cream blush (shimmery, satin, or matte). In the case of super oily skin, choosing a blush that is better suited to dry skin will likely result in splotchy or muddy skin in the afternoon or vice versa, if you have dry skin but choose a blush that is better suited to oily skin, it will probably look splotchy and/or muddy in the afternoon. Take into account your skin type and personal preferences before making any purchase.
- Your Skin Tone – Choosing the right cream blush for your skin tone is similar to choosing the right foundation. And although as a human being, you can wear whatever you absolutely want or love, if you are someone who is not sure what colour to pick, start with your skin tone first.
- The Texture – Now that it’s 2023, there are a lot of blush formulations out there, so finding the right cream blush can be a little overwhelming-especially since it’s not just your basic “cream blush” any more. From gels to creams, creams to liquids, and even creams to powders.
