In today’s post, we will look at how to find you some creative ways to monetise your social media following & social media channels. The majority of you are trying to ride the social media wave, or maybe you’re trying to quit your job, or maybe you just want some extra money. So for whom is this post really intended?

It’s for you, yes you. Weather you are just getting started, or have a following it doesn’t matter! Additionally, for those who are looking to lead a more nomadic lifestyle, who desire to travel, this blog post will offer some ideas on monetization that are a little on the unconventional side.

How To Bringing In More Partners

If you are a travel blogger/creator or wanted to become one, you should know that press trips is the place where you want to get started. A lot of travel bloggers don’t actually get paid, as the press trips you’re getting everything covered for you – flights, transfers, meals, accommodations, activities etc.

And although you may not be able to monetize the press trip side, you may be able to bill on the brand’s side! How do you do that? Let’s say you are going to Italy with the tourism board and they are providing you with this amazing travel experience, you can then go to other brands that would make sense with the destination that you are visiting (ie in this case Armani, Kiko Milano etc) and pitch to them directly, weather that would be creating a look book or UGC. This way not only you get this amazing experience for free, but also be able to monetise this trip.

Upselling Content

In this instance, you have already had your partnership, the brand has received their deliverables, and you have been paid – the whole deal you can go back to the brand/client and let them know you have additional imaging/videos and send them a contact sheet. This can potentially lead to the brand/client buying all of that extra content that you would otherwise not use and already had made.

Become a Social Media Consultant

This is something I personally dipped my toes first when the pandemic started, and let me tell you – it’s amazing! If you have somewhat of a following, or even work in customer service you understand how social media works – you need to know several ways to provide good, valuable and knowledgeable advice.

This is something a lot of brands nowadays want for their businesses and simply don’t know where to start or just don’t spend the time they have to posting on their socials. Here’s where you come in and you can teach the brand everything you know, tips, tricks, what works for you as a consumer etc.

Third Party Apps

Nowadays there are so many third party apps that can not only help you connect with your audience, but also monetise your posts. One of my favourites is ShopMy. From creating product shelves, favourites, gift guides, chat with brands and even link products to your social media posts with a few clicks! Have a story featuring a few products from different brands? Linking the products has never been more easy!

The platform also expanded over the last year on their collaborations options, where you can pitch to brands directly your idea. It may take a few tries, but if you don’t try you will never know – and let me tell you some brands have come back to me with their own pitches later on!
